We go through your switchboard, wiring, power points, lighting and switches, and test your safety switches and smoke alarms. If your property has an accessible roof space, that gets checked too, and if we find anything dangerous along the way, we can usually fix it on the spot rather than leaving you with a second visit.
Queensland doesn't set a fixed legal interval like some states do, but we'd generally suggest every two to three years for an owner occupied home, and yearly for rental properties or homes over twenty years old. Older switchboards and wiring wear differently depending on the property, so it's worth having it looked at sooner if anything seems off.
Yes. Queensland law requires safety switches on all general purpose power point circuits in rental properties, and landlords carry a duty of care to keep the property electrically safe for tenants. You can find the full requirements on the Electrical Safety Office's rental properties page, and we're happy to check your property against them.
It's a smart move either way. Buyers get a clear picture of what's behind the walls before they commit, and sellers can address any issues upfront rather than having them come up during a buyer's own inspection. It's a fairly small cost against the size of a property purchase.
If we find something like an outdated board, missing safety switches, or old ceramic fuses, we'll walk you through what needs fixing and why, along with a straightforward quote. In a lot of cases this ties into a broader switchboard or residential electrical upgrade, so we'll always explain the options rather than just handing you a list.
